1.6HDI Sarter Runs On

I have a just replaced by old 1.9d with a Mk2 1.6 HDI and when I start it the starter motor appears to run-on for a couple of seconds after the engine has fired and I release the key. Is this normal?

The starter is energised through the sw,therefore it will run until the sw is returned to ign/run.:thumbsup:alut: If it runs on appreciably the contacts in the starter solenoid may be trying to weld themselves together or return spring is broken.
