berlingo alternator clicking noise

Hi everyone i have an alternator problem on my 2007 berlingo van...every time i start engine theres a loud clicking noise from alternator it lasts for bout 30 seconds on tickover then stops.the clicking becomes much worse if my fan or headlights are switched on during this time ..would be grateful if any one can tell me whats causing this....it only happens when i start van & let it tickover.......Thanks........

Sounds like it is happening when the alternator is under load, it could be brushes or bearings. Brushes would be the first suspect and they should be easy to swap.
