Would you buy another Multispace?
#1
Question
I need an estate type car and the Berlingo was in the past quite a cheap way of getting one but lately I've been looking at what to get next time.

For the price of a decently specced Berlingo there are quite a few options, the Skoda Octavia springing to mind, after seeing one close up the other day.

Do you think I should remain faithful? and if so why.

I have a mk 2 & am very pleased with it.I've had it from new,7years & 40,000m.The new Berlingo is too big for me & I have considered an Octavia est.As an est it's good but hasn't got the height of the Berlingo. So I'll stick with it for now.Confusedalut::thumbsup:

I'm glad I remembered the Kangoo from my old IT job which is how I eventually ended with a Berlingo. I also clearly recall how I did my choice. I went to the car morgue I checked all the vans and the coefficient ratio of Berlingo to Kangoo was 4:1 and before I know it I was on CarFolio and Parkers checking out engine specs. After that it was just a few bids on Ebay and made one of the best purchases ever. I love the space and I love the weight of this car. Reliability is a little iffy but I knew I was buying french and I have a socket set (which immediately was redundant as everything is Torx) apart from that this van moved couple of friends house to Bristol on a 200 mile trip and collected family members from the airport on the same day.

And yes I wouldn't buy the really new versions of either manufacture. They made the new vans too big, like the Mk3 for example. Or the stupidly huge Fiat Doblo (my neighbour got one)

I wouldn't buy a Mk III. The one I've got has driven me to distraction. 13 months ownership and two major engine failures in 6000 miles, two and a half months off the road despite paying road tax and insurance. As soon as I get it back from the stealers it will be making a very hasty exit from my life! I'm sorry but that is a disgrace from any car manufacturer. To cap it all when the turbo blew six months into the twelve month parts and labour warranty Citroen weren't interested, I had to take legal advice to get some action.
However! I always wanted a Mk II and quite why I ever went for a Mk III I'll never know. Anyway I'm hoping to get the present one back next week and might consider then getting a 2.0hdi Multispace what I should have done in the first place! Rant over. Haha.
Dave.

We have am '07 Octavia Scout & a '13 Mk3 Berlingo. We'd have another Berlingo on experience so far. We love our Scout too but it's an 07 & had virtually every major issue that similar VAGS that age can have - rear diff, turbo, abs unit. Thank goodness for 3rd party warranty!
