[Warning Light] Airbag warning light issues
#1
Hi there i have a '56 pegeout partner (basically a berlingo) which has an intermittent airbag warning lights appearing nearly every drive. I've had diagnostics done with several error codes appearing but often changing, no more then 3 at a time, but the most common seem to be error 106f/206F and 2f40. It also seems the lights only come on when the engine gets up to temperature, however this may be a coincidence. I've checked all the wiring under both seats and everything is connected fully. May be the ECU but im not sure.

Thanks

Have you checked the earth?

Some people have reported success making a new earth.

Don't waste any money on an ecu yet. Unless it's been in an accident the ecu should be fine. Loads of people get a replacement ecu only to find that the fault is within the vehicle.
The common faults are - under seat connections and wires, comms unit on steering, earths or wire damage.
If you get it on PP2000 it will point you in the right direction.
Also to note, when the fault is fixed the light will go out on its own, no need to reset.
The airbag system works on a 3 ohm resistance circuit so you can check the pre tensioners and comms unit quite easily but don't forget to disconnect the battery whenever you mess with the airbags to avoid deployment by mistake.

Is it no real solution for this problem???
Seems to be A LOT of berlingos with this problem.
All over net, not only in this forum
My light came back after 4 months again.
I did everything i could.
Cleaned orange contacts, checked wires, no strange object under the seat, wiggle the wires, my horn DO work ok,
but no, no it will not go away.
And that 2 weeks before the MOT... Grrr¤&%!
I asked a independent dealer, they said about 500 pounds to fix it (money i do not have)
Citroen dealer said about 800 pound.
if ANYONE has some suggestions that not only say "clean contacts , wiggle wires,, fake wire it to fool the MOT, and hit the dashboard. I would forever thankful

Failing a complete solution before the MOT I'd be removing the dash to get to the LED on the dash pcb which illuminates the fault light you describe and block it off so it cannot be seen any more. There will be no issue of heat build up with an LED unlike an older vehicle with a bulb.
I've done this before with my wife's last car which was a Vauxhall Astra and is definitely DIY.

Good luck !

You need to plug in the vehicle to Lexia diagnostic, this will direct you to the area with the fault.
You can't just hope to fix an airbag fault with no direction.
My last airbag fault was a break in the red and white twisted wire that runs under the scuttle panel that required the removal of the trim under the wiper arms to get to. It was a 5mm section that had corroded and was causing too much resistance in the circuit. The Lexia said 'airbag fault, permanent van fault' or similar.
If it is a break you can't fool the system with 3ohm resisters plugged into the wires.
Unfortunately you can't expect an in depth explanation of how to fix this problem by just saying you have an airbag fault. Sorry.
If you are methodical you can narrow it down with time and a multimeter, as said the system works on a 3 ohm resistance so you can test the pretensioners by unplugging the wire under seat, testing resistance across the pins, but you have to insulate a spring contact within the plug. Do both driver and passenger sides, when reconnecting use a little grease.
Same with the comms unit at steering wheel, unplug and check resistance of airbag.
If resistance ok then probably wire break.
Please always be careful testing, disconnecting and reconnecting of the battery so to avoid triggering the airbag.
If you are unsure then you should not attempt repair.

Thank you for that info. Then i will ask a car shop for doing the test for me. That cant be so expensive i guess Smile
I will print out different and your answer here to show them.
Thanks again

Had my usual car shop diagnose the car for error. They found NO error at the air bag light issue. Except the visual thing. The air bag warning light is on constant, and one bip comes on after approx 5 sec , and then 5 sec later another bip. Seems like it is both airbags.
The shop guys said they had no solution to except changing the whole system. That is to much for me.. will cost more then the car is worth Wink
So i went to another dealer with a shop ..they also did diagnostic, NO error there also.. so now i'm stuck.
How can this happen? Are there broken fuses somewhere? (they or me could not find anything about it)'
Can someone give me some tip here? Where can start? Without paying £1500 for a fix here n norway.
Mot coming up in a few days.

Not elegant but may get you out of a hole and give a year to find a complete fix ....
