Before you splash the cash check the connections under the seats as they commonly go faulty.

Also check the earth for the airbag another problem area if in doubt make a new one.

Once fixed the light should turn itself off

Check what "homeruk" suggested. You can buy really cheap Lexia
software but you will be stucked on old software 5.xx If you don't
mid that buy it.
What year/model blingo you have ?

check the wiring under your seats, if you are going to check under the airbag for faulty wiring remember and disconnect the battery and leave it for an hour or so before you take it off, I had a similar problem and it was one of the wires to the airbag just wasn't on correctly but the wires under the seats are by far the most common fault(I soldered my wires under the seat to quality male and female connectors just make sure it wasn't them)

As people say, under seat connections, indicator/light unit (commas unit) and if it isn't that I have had a break in the wires to the fuse box under the bonnet.

Easy to sort under seat connections, the last one I did just needed unplugging and plugging back in with some grease.
The commas units have a wound multi wire inside them which can break, there is a guy on ebay that repairs them for £20 ish. (You will require Lexia to diagnose this)
If it isn't the commas unit then it will probably be a corroded/broken wire leading to the fuse box under the bonnet. It's the red and white twisted wires and can be tricky to find. The last one I did, the break was between the scuttle panel and inner arch. ( the loom runs above the n/s inner arch then up under scuttle behind wiper unit then into cabin on drivers side)

Please remember to disconnect battery so not to set off the bags

You don't switch the light off, when the fault is fixed it will go out.

Good luck
