[Engine] Speedo Fault

Hi,

i have seen a few issues on here about faulty speedos but none that seem to match the issue i have.

So....

berlingo 2007 1.6 hdi 120.000 miles

when i turn my engine on everything seems okay. but as soon as i drive away i notice that the speedo dial does not work just stays still and the millage does not register. i can then drive for 10 miles and start to see the speedo go nuts and this effects the engine's running and the stereo volume goes up and down. after a few minutes the speedo then reads my real speed and starts to clocks miles and works fine for the rest of the journey.

anyone have any suggestion as to the possible fault?

Would a worn rear break shoes effect this?

whats the part code for oem speed sensor?

Worn rear shoes - no

Do an earth check on your Speedo that's a possible culprit, corrison around body earth terminals can cause all sorts of issues

sounds like a bsi fault to me I would get someone with lexia/planet to read codes

Hi there, I also have a similiar or even the same fault, I have a 08 Partner 1.6hdi. I have had this issue since I bought it and its intermittant, Ive owned it a yr when I got it with 76,000 on the clock, now its got 95,000, the problem seems to occur in colder & wetter weather, I have not starting issues, starts first time every time, I did do a BSI back in the spring/summer and thought yippee its cured, but the speedo starting acting up Wednesday/thursday gone since the BSI on the way down to Paris and return, Ive lost about 150 miles with the speedo on that trip, Ive also noticed, when the speedo stops working certain parts of the electrical circuit stops as well, for instance the engine runs like a normal asperated diesel, ie the turbo intercooler not working, also the wipers on low speed drops to intermittant wipe (fast), the radio is ok with its volume, and sometimes but very rare the lights go out ie head/side.. now when driving I also noticed when brakes are applied this can also stop the speedo with the knockon affect (not always) so did think of an electrical surge, the speedo can jump up an down intermittantly causing all the above to do the same, like the turbo cutting in and out in rythem of the speedo neddle just lifting, Ive also sat at a standstill and the needle to jump from standstill to anywhere between 0 - 30mph and had the same at at 50mph where its 0-30 before correcting itself to the correct road speed, I have looked at codes with my Mac Tools code reader, and its come up with P1351#10 (1 of 2 and both the same) Input circuit Malfunction/Ign coil control Circuit high voltage. I did video the fault with my phone so will probably upload it to You Tube..

I have done alot of research on the matter and found nothing apart from the re-set, until I found this post.. so maybe out there someone may be able to accurately pinpoint the problem, the steps I was going to take was look at the wiring at the speed sensor/earth and all the earthing points, plus look at the connections on the rear of the cluster and stalks..
