Sorry Ant0ny, I hadn't spotted that you where outside the UK. The UK MOT seems to be becoming very picky on certain things and drivers of older vehicles are going to have problems in the future when parts become obscolete or hard to get hold of.

Going back to your original question I'm affraid I don't know if any Berlingos came out the factory without power assistance.

Ah right got ya, that little shock absorber thing. Yes you can bin it as there is no longer fluid to push around and makes the system less complicated. This is also valid if you are retrofitting an electric power steering at the shaft. I forgot about that piece actually since most cars don't have power steering like that. At least not the german cars I've worked on.
