04 berlingo 19d popping out 0f 5th
#1
Just spent £500 on new clutch cable new clutch plates and new linkage arm. the van never popped out of gear before work was done now it pops out of 5th when on the motorway. Has the mechanic done something wrong or is the gearbox now going???

Its the mechanic.

Take it back and tell him to sort it.

Not a mechanic no.

Just learnt my way around engines over the years.

Plus I implore paying someone to do a job I can do myself.

Regarding your problem the mechanic has either not put the gearbox back on correctly or its the linkage.

Either way you need to take it back and get it corrected.

Had the van back at the mechanics he says its nothing he has done wrong and its the bearings inside the box. Does this sound like a load of crap :brickwall:

I would be getting a second opinion if I were you.

It is possible however when it starts happening straight away after the box was dropped to changing the clutch makes me very suspicious.

You could always get another garage to sort it if it is his fault then send him the bill.

Won't go down too well but hey ho.

Did he have a look or did he go straight on the defensive?

It is a load of poo (I'm very polite):lol:The bearings are not affected unless your mechanic forgot to refill the transmission.Confusedalut:
