MOT Rust Thoughts

Well just got my 03 1.9D Multi Space through its MOT. Didn't need much mechanically a couple of new drop links (so no more knocks when going over bumps) and a brake pipe.However it needed the O/S outer sill plated,the N/S sill had to be done for the test last year. I've not heard of others with rust problems maybe I'm just unlucky.Decided to make regular rust checks from now on.

I didn't think the Berlingo was prone to rust so you must have been unlucky.

You want to get some Waxoyl or Dinitrol or some other such rust prevention into your sills to slow down and hopefully stop further corrosion.

Having had a diesel spill inside a previous C15 van I noted that the sills on the side of the diesel spill had no rust in it yet the side that was unaffected by the spill had severe rust .... diesel will do a good anti rust job but it does smell for a while. Be careful with diesel though as it will dissolve your tarmac drive !

Has it been near the coast for any of it's existence ? Berlingos don't seem prone to rust to any great degree unless they are damaged.
