Just got a 2001 Berlingo van , great machine , lot better than my old one
Except when opening with the key fob there is a long pause ----------------------- then when you think its not working it opens , locking is instant.
Changed batteries , no change.
anyone any ideas on how to cure?  Â

Micro switch on the fob sticking and releasing slowly?
Have you tried removing the circuit board from the key and pressing the micro switch directly or bridging the micro switch with a piece of wire?

the remote is not built into the key it is a separate fob. Both of them do it , I suspect its something in the van , ie the locks themselves
I'm wondering if its an aftermarket setup and not factory fitted.

Certainly sounds aftermarket.
Possibly a sticking relay?
Looks like you will have to hunt down the control board and do some fault finding.
Cant see it being the actuators as unlock works fine, the problem is until you know how its wired its difficult to diagnose.
