MPG

Can I start a thread on what do you get to the gallon in your 1.6hdi 90? Replacing my 2003 C15 with this 2008 berlingo and hoping for more + the obvious comfort improvement

Hi,I changed from a C15 1998 to a 1.6 HDi 90 in 2007.I get approx 5-10 mpg better,av 50-55 mpg.If you have a light right foot, anticipate traffic to minimise braking/accelarating 60+ is achievable.Another benefit is you don't have to shoe horn yourself in.Much as I loved the old C15,I would never go back. Thanks Ron, sounds good news , won't need a shoe horn but appreciate the seats over my C15's. Not used mine yet still a few issues to sort. Just changed the leaky lh drive shaft seal and found the tr end worn so swopped that and checked a noisy back brake which was just that - noisy but figured do all i can before it goes on the road proper.
I'm a fuel consumption checker freak so will report my results in time.

I've owned my XTR 110hp for over a year now - yes I know it's not a 90hp model but bear with me on this

In that year I have found that your right foot and road conditions are the main two reason for good or bad fuel consumption

My normal day is driving to work and back - 8 miles each way - most of it is in fairly heavy traffic through a couple of small towns and a queue when entering my work town, with an average mph of probably 25 over the 8 miles
This gives me about 47 mpg on average

If I go on a long journey, fully loaded using the motorway with an average mph of 60 to 70 and mostly using the cruise control, I get about 50 mpg

If I travel long distance full loaded on A roads with an average speed of about 50 to 55 mph, I get about 53.5 mpg

I once followed a friend on a long distance journey on A roads while full loaded. He doesn't drive fast at all, in fact he drives too slow for me. Our average speed was 40 to 50 mph
I got 58.5 mpg average and it would have been over 60 mpg, but we got stuck in a queue for 10 minutes which dropped the mpg down

If you can feather the throttle as much as possible and try to change up a gear when the revs hit just over 2000 and keep the mph at 50, you can easily get close to 60+ mpg, but this is a extremely boring way to drive

Hi, not been able to do a check on it yet as I'm still waiting to get it registered here in france so only using it when totally necessary. The gauge does seem to drop rather more quickly than I'd have thought but it is all short local runs. I'm still very impressed with it's acceleration from zero rpm but I'm used to land rovers so ........................
