Ipod in Berlingo?

I've connected my iPod to the auxiliary output with an auxiliary cable - it works but the sound is practically inaudible - I've turned up the volume on both the iPod and the car stereo but it remains very faint. Any ideas?

It needs an amp. This is why listening to hardcore headphones on portable devices doesn't work well.
