Running an alternative fuel?

Hello everyone!

New to the Berlingo scene but I do love my '02 1.9D bad boy Benedict.

He's done a hefty 220,000 but I have a plan to take him to the Italian border and back in about a month. I have every faith that after a good service, some good tyres and general preparation he'll make it.

I am, however, wanting to pick your brains regarding running him on an oil mix? Has anyone successfully done it with this engine? I respect it isn't ideal but understand it is possible. Fingers crossed this block is one of them.

What kind of oil mix are you thinking of specifically? Old fry oil from restaurants? Biodiesel?

I would run only diesel through the Lucas pump.
It may well run on veg oil but it WILL fail, just a case of how long it lasts. If you could find a Bosch pump from a normally aspirated PSA engine it will run on veg oil. Even a turbo diesel pump will work.

Hi, Believe me (Im a Minicab driver) 220,000 miles and she is only just run in. My Piccaso has done 502.000 miles and counting! (A new Berlingo on the fleet is about to take over).
Now, This may be only a slight 'Oil Mix', but I have been doing the '2 stroke @ 200:1 mix thing' in the Piccy for the last 70k, Less soot, Smoother Running, bit more poke. I have no
 downsides to report whatsoever. Obviously anyone thinking of doing this would do there own extensive research (I would not advise with a DPF for example) but I have every faith
in doing the same with my Berlingo. Well worth looking into.

A bit of Two stroke will cause no problems as you say, it does have its benefits. W.V.O or S.V.O are a no-no though.
What engine do you have in your Picasso?

2.0 hdi, EGR dissabled since first service, Cat removed, Always Shell fuel, Shell helix ultra engine oil,'Tuning Box' fitted since 250,000mls (crude i know), and the 2 stroke mix since around 530,000mls. Still runs clean as a whistle, passes every smoke test and has been a joy.

Is the oil standard two stroke  or synthetic two stroke oil

Mineral, not synthetic, is what you want. Runs cleaner and quieter definitely.
Allegedly increases MPG as well but as I have a failing speed sensor I never know how many miles I've covered to find out!
