Whats missing off my engine please (pics)

Hi just give our fishing wagon a service and mot, spent on few hundred on wheel bearings, roll bars, oil filter/change, brake cylinder and a fair few things more. It's now smooth and hopefully just needs the last touch.

The EGR valve leaked a lot of oil over the years with past owners and covered the engine in thick oil, we steamed it and replaced the valve and the newer one drips to.....
I took some pics and found a similar engine which appears to have a box on the airfilter pipe nr the EGR, maybe to collect any oil that leaks I duno anyhow our van doesn't have it, as you can see the holes taped up, so what's the missing part please.

also there are 3 wires with plugs on which don't appear to have a home. if you could shed any light on where they are meant to go I'd be very grateful thanks, I'm guessing they go to the missing part?
