Weird Behaviour at Full Lock?
#1
Hi, I've noticed my Bingo does something weird while shunting it about in car parks, etc. Just before the the steering wheel gets to full lock on either side, there is an audible click from a solenoid somewhere, a single warning beep from the dash and the red 'battery discharging' idiot light is shown. When this happens, the interior blower motor shuts off.

Turn the wheel back a few degrees and everything returns to normal.

Is this supposed to happen? If so, why?  Confusedcratch:
Strip thread and back off 1/4 turn.

Hi,
My guess is that on full lock you are putting more stress on the power steering pump/system and causing the engine to almost stall - hence the warning light. Try the same manauvres, keeping the engine revs up and see if it still does it. If that proves to "cure" it I think it's a fult within the Battery/Charging system or tick over speed, but I'm sure the more knowledgable will be along soon!

Mine does all this. The belt on the engine squeals and stops turning which explains why everything stops, but I can't see anything that interferes with it!

Did you work it out?
