Like you say, the DW8 isn't the most powerful unit, so I'm thinking about doing this same conversion to mine.

What problems did you come up against?
Did you change the gearbox as well and is the XUD a Turbo or n/a motor?

The mk1 one is a lot easier than the mk2. The plan was to put all the Berlin go mounts box power steering etc on to xud but there was so many differences.

So what I used was a modified Peugeot 206 180 flywheel (for eco mode) mk2 2 only

Also changed it from pull to push clutch (mk2) ALSO

Inner part of the short drive shaft to sure new box

modified the power steering mount from dw8 to fit xud

had to modify the top engine mount think this only mk2 also

Think that was main things basically just put it in with mk1

Good move.

I have an XUD7 I am putting in mine shortly, has a GT2052s turbo fitted.

Came from a 205 that is getting an XUD9TE conversion, shame to throw it away although I have got to do the head gasket on it due to putting too much power through it with the big turbo, will be very de-tuned for the berlingo though, only a lucas pump, keeping the bosch for the 205.

205 is going VNT, either a GT2052v or a GT2256v, which should be a laugh!

My van/Combi is a Mk1, 2001 (51 plate) with DW8. It's Partner instead of a B'lingo.

I've read/been told I can use my original DW8 flywheel on the XUD. Do you know if this is right?

Pull clutch? Is that the one with the long clutch cable that runs around the end of the box to the clutch arm down on the front of the box(mk2)? Mine has the cable running over the top of the box.

Drive shaft to sure? Do you mean too short?

I have an engine already, just not sure which gearbox I needed. This vehicle is my daily driver, so can't afford it to be off the road too long, so just trying to find out as much info as I can before I start.

Sorry for yet more questions.

Use the gearbox that comes with the engine and swap inner driveshafts or swap the diff over.

You could just use the xud box and clutch but don't think you rev counter will work

You can use the dw8 fly and clutch but clutch wont last long if turbo. On mine it has 2 metal parts sticking out on fly wheel this is for crank senser (revcounter/ECOMODE)

and it is just the part of the short shaft bit longer on Berlin go if you get both together you will see what I mean

You may need to swap a sensor or two but I do believe it would work. Pretty sure the 306 is an electronic pick up for rev counter.

Yeah, that's what I meant above, inner driveshaft.

On 405 the Rev counter sensor worked from back the block and on Berlin go top of the gearbox
