hey everyone, I have a nice set of alloys for my mk1 berlingo, unfortunately it failed its mot because the new tyres are not rated to carry enough weight for a berlingo. I don't want to buy another new set of tyres just for a ten minute re-test, and have been offered a good set of 185/65/14's at a good price, that are rated high enough. Question is will they fit into the berlingo arches. I know 195's rub against the back of the arch, but what about 185's?
cheers

185/65 x 15 or 185/65 x 14 should fit. The 195 should fit if the ET of the wheels is correct for the vehicle. What are the wheels from ?
So where does this bit go then ?

I'm pretty sure tyre load ratings are not MOT-able on a Berlingo as it is not a Class 5 or Class 7 vehicle.
Sounds like a cowboy MOT station trying to sell tyres - report them!
What is the failure notification para number?
EDIT: I also doubt any car tyres are manufactured that are not rated enough to carry a Berlingo.

What does it say on your tyres ? Standard Berlingo Michelins are 88H. 88 is the load rating and H is the speed rating good up to 130mph, T rated are to 118mph so either speed ratings would cope with daily use but load ratings I've never heard of cars being subject to as above.
So where does this bit go then ?

I haven't heard that this is part of the MOT, either...
(I know people who inspect the inspectors here in Norway, and they were baffled, too... )
But... if you have too low rating on your tires, it can be dangerous.
And not all tires of the same size have the same rating.
