Anti Roll bar nuts

Just trying to remove the driveshaft from the nearside to replace the oil seal and I cant undo the nut from the vertical link from the end of the bar. Nut and threaded stub just turning and no way of holding the other end of the bolt that I can see.Any tips?

Double check - there should be an allen key hole in the end of the bolt to stop it turning.

Thanks, I spotted it as I was putting it back together. Guess what size allen key I dont have..I' ll have to drive it into town to get one, but im reassured that I havent lost too much oil.

Well done. Tip for getting the driveshaft nut off, if you have problems, is to remove the wheel/remove R clip or dent on stake nut/replace wheel and lower to ground/then undo nut through wheel centre. Might need someone to put foot on brake to hold car stationary. Same when tourqing up.

Reading other posts one here I was hoping to get the driveshaft out without taking the hub off. Am I being overly optimistic?

I needed to split the ball joint and swing the hub out the way when I put a new driveshaft on mine last week.

I was replacing the n/s drive shaft and, as a matter of course, the oil seal. I suppose it depends on how much "play" you have in the suspension.

Unfortunately, a previous owner has almost completey rounded out the allen hole. I can get enough purchase to turn it but I dont fancy my chances of doing it up tight again afterwards. A new link is only £6, so I shall order one and postpone til next weekend.
A similarly hamfisted person (possibly same one) has rounded out a torx bolt on the rear seat hinges so my other plan to remove the larger rear seat has also been seen off. Doh!

When you fit the drop link, you don't normally need to use the allen key to tighten, only to remove them.

I don't think they are made for removal and refit, so for what they cost you may as well just stick a new one on as they are prone to wear anyway.

I think as well as the allen key, you can get a spanner on the other side by pushing the rubber back and locking a spanner in. It knackers the rubber but won't matter if you are replacing it.

There's usually room to get a hacksaw or a thin cutting disc behind the joint and cut through the bolt. It's easier and they are cheap enough to be disposable.
