Gearstick wobble?

Hi. I have abit of play in the gearstick. About half inch side to side movement. I have replaced the 3 link rods but the movement is still their. Is this a common problem? Is their a simple fix?

I had the same thing with mine, after changing linkages it was just as bad.

I found there is a locking nut on the bottom of the gearstick, under the van, next to the exhaust.

This had worked loose and needed replacing and tightened up the play completely, don't tighten it too much or you won't be able to move it at all, do it up bit by bit when you nip it up.

Thanks Danny boy, can you get to it easy enough from under neath? Or have to remove bits.

Easy to get to, nothing to remove.

It's easier if the van is jacked up on the passenger side, can even just park the passenger wheel on a kerb and get to it.
Directly under the gear stick, 13mm lock nut attached to the bottom of the stick itself in the middle of the van.

I would use some threadlock as well as a lock nut, as for some reason, mine came loose again and again even with brand new nylock nuts so belt and braces and it is fine now.
