Draught from steering column

Can anyone help with this one please.


59 plate XTR, looking at the steering column,at the top is a plastic panel, then a horizontal slot about 10 inches wide and 1 inch high then a further plastic panel going down to the floor.

I have a terrible draught coming through this slot.

It only happens when driving and only notice it once I get up to over 60 mph.

If I press the switch for ‘internal air circulation’ then there is no draught even with fan on full speed.

Whether a clue or a red herring as I’ve read thread about the lack of foot heating, but mine is minimal.

is this something to do with a cool air pipe that goes to glove box, ive read it somewhere, my van does this, I read vans pipe not connected so you get the cool air but I read its connected on car version, must admit I pulled mine apart and couldn't find it, I must of read this on here, someone blocked it off

Thanks finny, I knew there was another post on this ( I even posted on it, Doh! ) .

For information the pictures in the link are for left hand drive, for right hand drive it's under the steering wheel.

No pipe, the hole had a flimsy citroen stamped rubber plug which doesn't seem a good fit, so wrapped some pte tape around plug for a better fit, Hope it sorts but a bit pessimistic.

If I turn the heat control to cold the draught seems to stop, ( seems tom decrease as heat gradually turned off).
