[Warning Light] Positive and Negative cable replacement advice - they're corroded/stiff/hot

Hi,

I've had issues with the battery light coming on recently. At the moment I'm not getting anything if anything from the alternator. I'm currently charging the battery each day and it's getting me to and from work until the end of the shift.

The cable to the ring tag on the alternator gets warm and it's melted the insulation at some point (thankfully the exposed cable is not shorting to anything). The nut and ring tag are welded to the alternator. Turning the nut results in the alternator case cracking open before the nut moves on the stud - even with penetrating lubricant etc.

I'd like to replace the positive and negative battery cables before MOT next month. I may have to replace the alternator also if I can't fix it.

Can anyone give me a clue as to the part numbers/prices of the battery cables?
If I can't get originals I'm OK making up my own. Has anyone done this to a berlingo and routed the cables correctly through all the duct work? I don't want to risk an MOT failure because it looks like a modification.
Can the new cables be routed without taking the engine out? (It looks like I can get to most of them.)

53 plate Berlingo multispace HDi 90 2.0 (forte - no aircon).
