engine problem fuel side

HI there,

All of a sudden, my engine has gone from running sweat to  as noisy as a tractor.

During a mile drive it will change from a heavy diesel knock to a smooth Running engine.
This may happen every few minuets.

When it has the rough sound of it. the engine has no power.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

What engine and ECU system are you running? Sounds like an injector problem to me.

Had this problem last year on my way home on the A55 I noticed a real diesel knock and reduced power.

It was drivable at about 60ish but if I tried to accelerate it would knock like hell. Temp slightly higher than normal.
Came off at our exit, when pulling away rattled like hell and struggled to get going.

Managed to get to a lay by and had a root under the bonnet, pulled the plug on the advance on the diesel pump and plugged it back in and all was well again.

When we got home I had a look at the plug and cleaned the pins properly and have had no repeat of the problem since.

I am running the 1868cc DW8B engine with the Lucas pump. If I pull the plug on the advance while its running I can replicate the fault so I was happy that was it. For me anyway.

Where is the plug for the diesel advance here was two plus beside pump pulled them and they re sealed an spotless.
