Just a quickie ??

thought the last few days that the engine seemed noisier on tick over(1.6 hdi),then noticed this morning that when you turn it off with the engine cold,i could hear a chuff chuffing compression sound from under the bonnet,1st thoughts were injector/s blowing,so had a go,meant to ask them to check at the last service,anyway i digress,i got a quarter turn on every bolt,is this unusual,i'll check in the morning when its cold,just didnt know if a quater turn was likely to be the problem ??? thanks for your time :-)

1/4 a turn is quite easy to get and should not be a problem, i tend to do them quite tight but remember its only a m6 stud and a really crappy barrel nut!

I didn't swing on it for just that reason,it was an easy pull to move it,it sorted it anyway,started it this morning and quickly turned it off,no chuff chuff noise, seemed to tick over better to when cold,next job is to find whats squeeking/rattling on the
auxiliary circuit,just on tickover,ease the revs to 1k and its quiet,was wondering if it was a pulley on it's last legs.
timing belt water pump etc was changed at 70k in sept,it's on 112k now.

Could be the serpentine belt that drives the alternator, air con. They can squeak their heads off at idle. Possibly tensioner could be on way out?

thats the belt i meant,just didn't describe it right haha, mines not got aircon so its one thing less to worry about :-)
