Retro Fit Cruise Control
#11
If your Laptop is Windows 7 Pro, Enterprise or Ultimate, you can install 'XP Mode' which is a combination of Virtual PC and a full copy of XP direct from Microsoft for free from here

If you don't have one of the three versions mentioned above, but instead have the Home Edition, you can install VirtualPC from here, or VirtualBox from here, but you will need a spare copy of XP to install

I use VirtualBox as it has more features, but is slightly more complicated to setup

Because the installation of Diagbox can be a real pain and if it goes wrong, you end up having to start again with a fresh install of XP, VirtualBox allows you to make copies of the initial install of XP, so if anything does go wrong, you can start again with the Diagbox installation on another instance of XP
This saves the time in having to install XP again

Thanks again.

I've got 2 laptops one Win7 Ultimate the other one Proffesional. I'm downloading virtual XP from Microsoft as we speak.

There is a few other questions I have regarding auto locking and the seatbelt but I'll start another thread for those.

In fact I'd have thought it could be hazardous - with cruise control the brake and accelerator always still work. The limiter can effectively disable the accelerator which I wouldn't like if, for example, I was overtaking someone who decided to speed up.

Actually, this is why you need to have the right accelerator pedal. If the pedal is put to the floor and then a bit more, there is a switch that disables the limiter. Try with the engine turned off. You will fell and maybe hear a noticeable click if you press the pedal more than "normal full throttle".

Installing virtual XP is proving to be a little more difficult than first anticipated.

Sorry for reviving this old thread , but about to attempt this on mine , but before ordering my diagbox , the YouTube videos on this mention needing a clutch switch and a brake switch ? I don't have a switch on my brake pedal , it sounds as if you guys just had thw clutch switch and carries on fine. Thanls for the help!

It wont work without a brake pedal switch or a clutch switch. The bake light switch will be there, but the clutch switch may not.
Your brake light switch may in the master cylinder area. The cars system knows where the brake light switch will be.

What year / model / engine is your Berlingo?

Chances are that yours will have the switches already fitted.
