Welcome!

Find a seat, put your feet up and wait a few moments while I bring my TU3 to a boil so we can make a cup of tea... ;-)

170.000 miles Wink which proves correct servicing really is critical as it drives like new! Thanks for the welcome!

Hi Tony, welcome to the forum. 170.000 miles, that's some mileage, how's the rest of the vehicle holding up, transmission etc., Smile

170K Miles?
So, finally broken in, then ;-)

Correct and regular servicing is critical for ALL French cars.
Citroën got a lot of bad rep in the 70s and 80s because 'home mechanics' more used to cast iron monstrosities from Ford or Volvo tried to inflict their 'knowledge' on it.
Quite a few 'professionals' also messed it up...

People would overtighten the bolts holding the exhaust manifolds on the GS, ruining the heads.
Or they replaced the LHM oil with normal engine oil...
(That destroys the seals over time. It can be done in an emergency, to get it to a workshop, but the flush and seal replacement will cost more than being towed... )

Citroëns are like women. They want attention and lots of gifts, and if they don't get it, they throw a tantrum.

Hi Tony and welcome, sorry to have to "top" you, but my 2010 B9 1.6 HDi has done 327,000 miles since I bought it from new. I have done all my own servicing on it, as I've found in the past, that garage workshops have done more damage to my vehicles than I care to remember. I'm still waiting for it's replacement which I ordered in November 2014 (17 weeks of waiting now, for the same model as I have now + the "Look Pack"). I will probably buy a Ford Connect Trend next time, after having bought 5 Citroen vans in a row.

Very tight and runs like new, had every done when it should have been done, esp correct oil and right intervals, i will be changing it at 9000 miles and keeping the oil strainers clean, better than ditching them they are there for a reason!!
