Should have kept quiet about easy MOT pass.
Looks like clutch has failed .  I recently noticed juddering while moving off in first gear. A couple of nights go squealling noise when depressing clutch, then pedal dropped to the floor. 
Managed to drive home in first gear with no clutch.  Next morning I checked pedal/cable lever operating Ok. 
Got the car pushed onto the drive last night. 
Guess what am going to be doing for the next couple of days. 
Did a Saxo clutch last year, hopefully not much more involved than that.  
Time to get reading workshop manual.
