Changing Oil Filter
#1
I have a 2005 petrol 1.6 Berlingo, and I want to change the oil and filter. The filter seems to be in a plastic container, with a plastic hex "nut" on top. Can I use conventional tools (e.g. spanners, sockets, filter wrench) to remove it? Or, will this banjax it forever? Is it a special tool or nothing??

Thanks a lot.

No, it's just a socket.

I think, could be wrong, but it's about 27mm or something around that.

Just undo it, catch the drips, replace filter and o ring, lubricate o ring and refit. It tells you on it the torq for tightening, something like 25n, although I just tightened it up without torqing.

Sounds just like my filter and PK7478 walked me thru it. Tucker is right, just a socket. Not sure if your model of filter has that little nipple on the bottom but if so that needs to go in the recess in the engine where the filter goes. I do torque mine to 25nm.

1.6 HDi is similar too.
Make sure you locate the nipple on the paper ECO filter.
