Cambelt advise please

Hi All,

I am new to this forum so apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place. I have a 03 plate, 2.0 HDi with 27K miles. I think it is time to change the cambelt. My question is can anyone tell me what I should be paying to have the belt and the water pump changed and if there is anyone who can do this at a reasonable price in the Oxfordshire/Gloucestershire/Warwickshire area

I paid 290 for mine on the same vehicle, cam belt kit and water pump with flush a refill of coolant

Mine was around £230 with water pump.

Why are you changing yours at only 27,000 miles? Normal interval is 80 - 100,000.

Kinnel, I was done. 330 with the water pump

It may only be 27k but you have to think of the time factor.

I agree. Eight years is asking a lot of a cam belt even with low mileage.....VAG reckon on a change every four years.

Thank you all for your replies. The reason I am changing it is the time factor and having had a few go on other cars, I dont want the pain! Also thanks for the advise about prices - the best I have been quoted is £355 by my local garage which I thought was too steep. Are any of these good rates available in the Oxfordshire/Warwickshire/Gloucestershire/Bershire areas by any chance????
