[Engine] Help please smokey and a bit of a rattle at times
#1
Hi had the 1.6 hdi van a week it's a 2007 was not driving right so thought I would get it serviced yesterday went out to the van today and noticed a oil patch underneath so started to investigate . I noticed a hose coming from the oil filter pump thing to the turbo had a little split at the bottom so took it off and there was alot of carbon crap inside . I brought a new pipe put it on and started van it drove with more power then I heard a knocking noise then it went and come back then realised it was smoking abit what could this possibly be ???

Was it EGR pipe ? . if so it may just be burning off oil lying in the egr system and should stop. The oil can also overfuel the engine and cause a knocking noise.

I'd be careful with it as you have only had it for a week and you wont really know if its a bad one or not.
