Towing a caravan

Hi experienced 1.9 diesel owners

I am thinking about getting a small lightweight 2 berth caravan of approx 750 kg dry weight. I was wondering if any members have experience towing a caravan with a 1.9 diesel?

Am I being a little unrealsitic to think the 1.9 will be able to tow a small van around Scotland at a modest pace, given that it feels the hills with a full load in the back?

Any words of wisdom and experience will be very much appreciated.
