Berlingo on a budget!

I'm looking to buy a berlingo multispace in the next month for under €1500, has to be a 1.4 due to tax and insurance costs. Plan is to use it for a trip to the UK carrying 5 people, haul around wheels tyres and the odd load of scrap metal, build my own boot jump style thing and go on a a trip to Europe.
There's a few berlingos I'm interested in, and due to budget most are the M49 model, but one M59 with some body work needed has appeared just within budget. I've looked around and I can't seem to find anywhere that tells me the differences between the two models, by the sounds of things running gear is the same, updated interior and exterior obviously. But is it worth spending a bit extra to get the M59? Would be great if anyone could let me know any differences that makes the M59 better overall, I actually prefer the look of the M49!

Have you looked at Honest John's site? Gives some good advice and details of models.

Thats the only place that I've seen some sort of good comparison, and from reading that it seems that there is quite a difference between the two models although it all depends on the spec when bought. Hope to go and look at the M59 model soon and I'll make an offer if its in good condition

I always look on HonestJohn, its impossible to be complete or 100% accurate but that site is generally the best of the bunch and mentions bits and pieces that are relevant. Most vehicles have multiple reviews over the years/models so worth crawling around the site a bit (or use google to find the relevant pages).

I'm going to look at a Kangoo now as well so was looking to compare them. Doesn't seem to be any huge differences between the Kangoo, Berlingo and Partner, but if I'm wrong let me know! I've seen some comparisons but nothing seems to be hugely different?

Personally I wouldn't buy a second hand Renault if you paid me!! Just my tuppence worth.

Much as I hate to agree with Ol Jeffers I wouldn't touch a Renault with a barge pole.This is from years in the motor trade.

Thanks for the reply, Kangoo turned out to be in bits anyway, going to view the 2004 Berlingo I linked above today, only concern is it has nearly 150'000 miles. Would that concern you?

150k on a petrol engine is pushing on a bit, I'd be surprised if it hasn't had a recondition or replacement engine.

Picked up a 01 1.4l berlingo with 105k on the clock, very happy with it
