Metallic rattle from front left suspension
#1
Over the past couple of months my 2.0 HDi 2005 Berlingo Desire has developed a metallic "jangling" rattle from teeh front left wheel / suspension. It's fine going over speed bumps or one-off bumps / dips but if you get a rapid series of small bumps or pot holes then there is a clear (to me) rattling/jangling whch sounds like loose metal (reminds me of the jangling noise train couplings make as a freight train goes past). It only happens from the front left, not the front right wheel / suspension.

I am off to Cornwall next week (from Manchester so a bit of a drive) and want to get the car into my garage for a look before I do such a long journey but would be grateful for some pointers as to what the garage could look at - intermittent jangling rattles are often hard to detect when you don't drive a car every day! :-) Thanks for your help and guidance.

could be the drop link, it's a common problem, they are only about £10 each and are an easy swap.

Or it could be the suspension spring, they have a habit of a little bit breaking off and rattling profusely.

Thanks for your help. Are either of those serious enough to warrant urgent attention?

Nothing done and it's either gone away or I don't notice it any more. Will mark as solved as there's not "unexplained" option ;-)
