AM I MISSING A CHROMOSOME

just wondered if im missing something in the head department and wonder what you think ?


On a whim i go and buy 2001 Berlingo van £350 with 165,000 on the clock
owned previously by 4 building companies
comes complete with

Rocker gasket leak
water hose leak
weak brakes
scored rear drums and shoes
rear door lock operated by nylon rope pulled from drivers cabin
and filthy dirty interior

Should i have just brought a nice noisy exhaust for my motorcycle with the hard earned cash or will i find a sense of  satisfaction when i have done all the repairs my self ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Well, assuming there is nothing major wrong with the motor, drive train or suspension it sounds like you have a project to putter around with. What you listed is quite fixable. Any idea about the maintenance history?

a bit sketchy
i see from inspection its got a very recent complete new exhaust and a new o/s gator replaced
not a lot of history
the book is stamped for the first 5 years and the timing belt was mentioned at 119,000 miles but not sure on that because it seems a lot of garages seem to skip the ticking of boxes and just stamp the page , so im not sure if it was actually done , so thats a £300 job including water pump change.
wont be doing that myself as i dont have the tools /work area /knowledge to tackle it.
