ABS Issues....
#1
Hi All,

I recently changed the front shocks on my 2006 Berlingo Multispace.  Right afterwards I started getting an ABS warning light/tone every time I went over a speed bump or kerb.  I replaced the front ABS sensors figuring that I must have strained the cabling to them during the shocks job.  No joy.  Just yesterday while driving, I got a weird loud whirring noise from the ABS modulator unit.  It's constant.  I tried pulling fuses but the only way to stop it was to disconnect the battery.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers

When you say "changed the front shocks" Was it just the shock or the entire strut assembly? could you have damaged the relucter ring?

I put new shocks on the old springs.  My first thought was that I'd damaged the cabling to one of the two ABS sensors.  I didn't consider the relucter ring.  Is this just a magnetic strip on the wheel bearing?

I booked the car into a Citroen dealer this morning and they tell me that the modulator unit is toast.  That's ok but the price isn't.  And I wonder how changing the shocks can cause the modulator unit to give up the game!

I'm only going along with the repair seeing as it'll be cheaper than buying a new car..... :-)

Relucter rings are like a perforated or toothed ring around outside of CV joint.
