Cabin Fan Switch
#1
My fan only seems to have two speeds. No. 4 seems to work but all the other 3No. positions run at the same speed. Could this be a switch problem and if it is can you explain how I get the switch out. Thanks

Its more than likely that the heater blower resistor pack is faulty, they always fail on the lower speeds first. Depending on model and if you have aircon you usually get to it via up under the passenger footwell behind the dash.

Thanks, mine is a 2010 without air con. I'll have a look. Presumably the glove box needs to be removed? Is that an easy job?

I'm not sure on the b9 there could be a bit of carpet trim that you need to unclip then look up towards the blower and the resistor will be clipped in there somewhere. If you have a look at this it will give you some idea what you are looking for. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-Berlin...4aedb44736

I had a look for the blower at the weekend and could find nothing in the passenger foot well. I removed a plastic plate from below the glove box, removed the glove box but could see nothing like a heater fan assembly. I could not find any pollen filters either. The car does not have A/C but presumably it would still have pollen filters?

Pollen filters are on the drivers side, just changed mine and a right awkward job it is too. maybe the resistor pack is drivers side as well. A mirror might be a good idea, I used one to get a better view of what I was doing.

Hi, I have finally got round to sorting my blower issues. I have located the fan under the drivers side fascia. Do I need to remove the blower to get at the resister pack? I had a look at the link Tomcat3 provided above (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-Berlin...4aedb44736) but can't see how the resister pack attaches to the blower motor. Any pointers anybody?

Hi old son I cant be sure but normally they are a push fit and held in by lugs, if you look at picture one you can see two black tangs coming up parallel to the resistor pack. I would think you squeeze these together and gently pull out the pack. Have a look at this picture it may help http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-Berlin...1815594806 .
On other motors its usually one or two screws and remove but I cant see any screw holes on the citroen one.
Hope it helps hopefully someone who has done it will come along with advise.

So the resistor rack is definitely fitted in the motor housing? I can see the two tangs but I think they hold in the cable connector? When I look at my installation there is a cable that comes out of the loom just before the plug that goes into the motor. That plugs into something which could be fitted into the ducting from the motor. Could that be how the resistor pack is cooled? Thanks for your input, hopefully somebody has carried out this fix on a B9
