Servicing.. Home or Dealer?

Got another service coming up for 100k. Have done servicing at dealer since new but van is now 6 years old.
Question is do i service at home (myself) or Dealer this time? Its due a small service so oil change and filters. I can do it but as it's only £175 shall I just get dealer to do it?
PS don't need belt done at 60k.
All your opinions welcome.

Iv just bought a 05 reg no service history coming up to 100k would I be better going for the extra service thanks just oil and filter change anyone?

If it has no history,I'd give it a good birthday.All filters & oils(eng & trans),brake fluid & oil everything.Check timing belt & valve clearances.You can have the afternoon off.

Are you not using a Citroen dealer? If you are I would think they should abide by Citroens web site

The stamp in the book always means something when it come's to sell ring around i'm sure you will find a Citroen dealer that will do it for less Pug like to charge more for some reason   i call it social mugging

I work as a Courier and have done all my own servicing on my vans over the past 11 years. I will use a non-Citroen garage for major stuff like cambelts, clutches and gearboxes, but I'm going to have a go at a cambelt change for the first time on my current van when it's due. I change disk pads and disks when needed, and have changed front coil springs and an exhaust manifold gasket on my last van.

I'm amazed that Citroen charge £170 for what is basically an oil and filter change. An oil filter costs about £6.50, and the fully synthetic oil is about £6 a liitre (you need 3 litres for a 1.6 HDi), total = less than £25!

Jed mentions the value of dealer service stamps for boosting trade-in values, but that doesn't matter to me, as I drive such high mileages, that my van has little, or no trade-in value anyway lol! (I cover 70,000+ miles a year!). I keep my own service history, where I record date, current mileage, target service point mileage, and what I did on my van.

I once had a turbo disintegrate and sieze a Berlingo engine during the warranty period, and my dealer tried to wriggle out of responsibilty for it by pointing out my lack of Citroen dealer service history. He claimed that servicing had to be done by a qualified mechanic who was VAT registered. His heart sank, when I showed him that I WAS VAT registered (for courier work), and my Army record book showed that I was a trained "Plant Operator/Mechanic". The result was a new engine courtesy of Citroen UK!
