New member, looking for pointers.

Hi all,

I have just bought a 1.9 enterprise van 55 plate. The van seems to good to be true just under 55000 miles. He said the cam belt had been changed (to be confirmed but it does look new) but I have seen oil all around the rocker cover seating.

I'm here to ask if i need to be looking for any specific issues, any help would be appreciated

Many thank

Paul

Hi Paul and welcome.Since i joined the Berlingo forum i cant seem to get off.Everybody seems to be friendly and "as happy as pigs in muck".I do hope you find what you want.My 1.9 has about the same mileage and has been virtually totally reliable save a couple of small things,ie i now change the glow plugs on a 2 year service basis instead of waiting till i cant start it and i am now experiencing some vibrating / buzzing noise under the front ,but it always goes through the MOT with no problems so it cant be anything serious. Idea No i havnt been through the channel tunnel. Hummmmm.!!!

I too get a seepage of oil around the rocker cover, its never bothered me,i think its easy enough to do but i regularly pressure wash my engine anyway so it never gets too bad.Halfords told me it was a leaking gear box ha pratts.

Hi Paul I also have the same vehicle and the same plate too.

Happily there are NO issues to worry about.

Just use a good oil and keep it fresh, also keep an eye on all the fluid levels until you get to know the vehicle.

Hello Poddy welcome to the forum Smile it mite just be spilt oil from topping up after a oil and filter change .
Check the engine breather to make sure it's clear and no pressure build up .
Last of all the rocker gasket is ten year old so may be weeping a bit after heating up and cooling down  Smile

The rocker cover seems to be a weak point on these as they are often *damp* in that area. The important thing is to make sure it isn't leaking into cam box as oil will perish the belt

Does anybody have any links to a good workshop manual?

cheers

Not aware of any online PDF manuals, Haynes is the way to go.
