Hi Tony welcome to the forum good luck with the van. While you are doing the cambelt it may pay you to adjust the valve clearances. On high mileage 1.9s they have a tendency to close up and you need the camshaft out to replace any shims.
Are we there yet?????

I agree with Tomcat.Do the valves check before. Then you only have to measure/replace shims at belt time.

well hello and welcome Tony
£185 sounds like a bargain for that lot to be fitted.
My local garage priced the water pump & cambelt £300 supply and fitted so if they do the brakes as well
sounds good

An extra hour labour max ( I've just done mine ) and well worth doing, if they need doing get them set towards top limit.

Yes I like rattles too .... you are so right Ron !
As an aside Ron my " F " head has rattly valves and a bit too much of it so I'm currently rebuilding my spare engine ....
Spares are fruity .. £400 for a cam and another £300 for followers .... should' a got a younger one as their cam is £50 and followers at £90 ..... actually I prefer the F head to the OHV with max torque at 1500 rpm, nice !
