[Engine] Cruise control additional sensors
#1
Hi All
Ive looked through the forum for an answer but cant find what im looking for.

I have a 64 plate Berlingo Enterprise, ive fit the cruise stalk, got citreon to activate cruise control (£45 which I didn't think was too bad), but still not working. Citreon now want additional £90 to look over the van to tell me why and what additional parts I will need, if any.

I can turn the cruise control on the display, but when I press any button the the stalk the digits just flash. If I try turn it on under 25mph it comes up on centre console that im going to slow which is correct, so it must no how fast I am going.

Is there anything else I can try or anyway to find out myself if I need a new part etc, what am I looking for and where. Surely you can type a VIN number in somewhere that tells you what parts are on the van as standard.

Thanks

Has your van got a switch on the clutch pedal to switch off the cruise control when the pedal is pressed, the unit will not work without this switch and its not fitted to every vehicle. The switch is up near the pivit and I think it is blue. It is an extra safety feature in case the stop light switch fails.

You need to get a username and password (it's easy, and automatic).  Then just enter your VIN.

Hi Doofer

Thanks for your reply, ive set up an account and ill have a good look around.

Ive found a bit that says  "cruise control- without speed control".

Can you find what sensors you have fitted or what sensors you need?

Ive had a look on my clutch pedal and there is a switch that activates when clutch is pressed.

Does anybody know what parts you need to have cruise control up and running?

Thanks

Hi Jim

Yes I've had a look and there is a switch that activates when the clutch is pressed, is there other switches/sensors I need??

Thanks

Hi gazahull

I bought my stalk online aswell, I bought the stalk knowing I had to have the van programmed for cruise control, but all forums say it should just work after activation, now I think I need sensors/switches etc as it's not working.
Citreon say they done all they can do, they will have to spend another hour looking at my van to see what I've got or not got fitted, then parts on top whatever is needed.
I'm just thinking if I definetely need a switch or need a sensor, I'll buy them and save myself £90 to Citreon.

It looks like ive got a switch on my clutch, unless I need a different 1??

Just wondering if anybody knows what else I need or should I it be working.

I questioned the Citreon guy to make sure he had activated the cruise control in the ECU AND BSI but he pretty much shrugged me off, so can't 100% confirmed hes done that, but you can turn cruise control on and the symbol comes on.

what van have you got and did you have to anything to yours?

Thanks
