Hello all, just a note to let you know my experience today with some e-bay Chromed wheel bolts I bought to bling up my alloys.. Don't !!
Two of the bolts stripped when I did them up with the wheel brace, it made me think that anyone with these aftermarket wheel bolts is running the risk of losing a wheel if the bolts were to strip when driving. I thought wheel bolts had to be 10.4 but it seems the e-bay bolts are standard 8.8 strength steel..
I need some Peugeot alloy wheel bolts if anyone has some kicking around ?
Thanks..

As a general response to your sage warning it is well worth restricting purchases of this type to specialised suppliers as acid pickling processes prior to electroplating can cause hydrogen embrittlement in high tensile steels, post plate baking isn't guaranteed to ameliorte this effect.
Glad you had a lucky escape, how are the hub threads after this episode ?

8.8 is used as standard by a lot of manufacturers, they are strong enough and also not as brittle as 10.9. It sounds like someone is passing off inferior metal as 8.8, if you have the ability to make a bolt you would most likely be able to stamp the head with anything you like.
So where does this bit go then ?

There are a lot of inferior strength bolts made in Asia flooding the markets. For any safety critical application make sure you only buy from a credible source.
it's becoming a problem in some civil engineering applications where structual failures have already occoured.

With TATA pulling out of the UK and closing foundries all over the World, the quality of steel will decrease I guess..
The Hubs seem OK, I have run fresh bolts through the hub bolt holes and they tightened up OK.. I just need some new Ally wheel bolts to suit Pug 205 wheels..
