To be honest i think it looks reasonably clean, i have seen a lot worse, i used to have a renault scenic 1.9dti which had two intakes one of which was low down near the nsf road wheel and this fetched up a lot of dirt and i ended up changing the filter every 6 months and it looked worse than yours although renault recommended every 20,000 miles or two years although i found this to be way out.

To me that looks like a mess. I've never seen an air filter so dirty on other cars I've owned. Good thing you changed it.

Hate to tell ya but that's not very bad. My gsxr one when I serviced it after I bought it was solid black gunk

I must admit I thought it looked pretty bad but I guess the micro filter sponge bit soon clogs up, it seems a bit better on fuel but early days to be sure.
