Reverse Gear Issues
#1
I have recently bought a Berlingo and this is my first post on the forum. My only issue with the Berlingo is when I put it in reverse the gear stick goes further back than I believe it should. There is a bit of a grinding noise and gear stick shake. The other day this happened the car got stuck into reverse. The white ball joint popped off the rod that goes to the gear stick and the two links next to it popped off. I easily put the rod back onto the ball joint and re connected the links and was on my way. To stop the problem happening I don't pull the gear stick to far back in reverse and it reverses fine. All other gears work fine.
Thanks for any assistance you can offer

Hi Icewarrior welcome to the forum, it sounds like the gear linkage is a bit worn with a lot of play. You can get a repair kit made up of the rods and balljoints to sort it out. Have a search on the forum for gear linkage and you will find a few threads about it and diagrams on how it should look.
This is something like it http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GEAR-LINK-ROD-...SwrklVJYQD
Are we there yet????? Huh

Make sure the engine is not floating on broken mounts.

Thanks for the replies. I will get the gear linkages and will have a look at the mounts.

The Berlingo is a really nice car and can't understand why I didn't get one years ago

You've got 1 now so all is not lost.I wouldn't change to anything else. It's so practical.(& cheap to run).
