Can't find the brake bleed valve???
#1
Shocked
Hi All
My mechanic done half a job the other day then let me down by not finishing it. The brakes need bled, badly but I can't find the bleed valve. I assumed it would be on the calliper but can't seem to find it anywhere. Really need to get it done today so I can get back to work tomorrow. Any help much appreciated!

Had the calliper ofoff but just can't seem to see it. I've got the rear ones but on the front callipers all I can see if the hose that brings the fluid into the calliper and that's it. Must be missing it but it's really frustrating me!

Does your caliper look the same as this? If so could you point me in the right direction

Can't see your pic, but would guess the nipple has broken off at some point.
You can bleed the calipers from the hose.
Clamp the piston fully home in caliper with a "G" clamp or similar, and bleed by slackening hose connection at caliper enough turns for fluid to start leaking (caliper needs to be off for this) slowy press pedal till fluid comes out with no bubbles. If this doesn't happen on 1st press, with the pedal still down. tighten hose, release pedal, slacken hose again and press again. Repeat till brake is bled and refit caliper.

Without being able to check for sure I can't confirm that mine is exactly the same, but it looks like it. As previously said; it might have been broken off. Whilst you can bleed it using the method suggested I would get another caliper from the breakers yard.

Scotia on your photograph the nipple is to the right of the flexible brake hose where it enters the caliper body and is about 10mm away from the hose itself.

Looking at your photograph the nipple is definitely snapped off !

I had a price recently for £80 a pair from the motor factors.

Don't get second hand unless bloomin skint !

If you have ABS you need to use a pressure bleeder as the pedal pushing method is not satisfactory !!!!

The bleed nipple points upwards when fitted to the car usually as the bubbles of air will not go downhill.
So where does this bit go then ?

Yes I agree, but he said he needed to get it done yesterday for work today and I'm not sure he could get a replacement on a Sun afternoon. Hope he sorted it.

(PS) I think I have a s/h pair of those in my workshop.
