Engine Swap Options
#1
Hi, my 1st post on here so please go easy on me.

I've been looking into giving my work van a bit more power and making it a bit of a promotional machine

Its a 90hp 2.0hdi with a chip box and is fairly nippy at the minute.

I've been searching the forums looking at the different options and I think I've got it down to 3 and would like to gauge peoples opinions on them.

Option 1 - Intercooler and remap.  Easy to do and reasonably cheap but would be the easy way out and not making huge amounts of power.

Option 2 - 2.2 hdi 16v engine swap.  i think it will physically go straight in with a bit of jiggery-pokery with the pipework and gearbox.  Good for 180ish hp but wiring up will be 'testing'. This option then got me thinking, if I'm going to wire in a fresh ecu, I could go for option 3.....

Option 3 - 2.7 hdi V6 - If it physically fits its the one I want to do.  Big power and I don't think I've seen it done before (probably for a reason).
Issues would be the size of the engine and mating it to a manual gearbox.

For option 2 and 3, I would have a complete donor car and I have a friend to help with the wiring and any mapping that's required.

Would love to know what people think.  If you think I'm mad/stupid, please say so!

Any input most appreciated, please discuss....

I don't think the 2.7 lump will fit.

It's a big old lump as it is a similar size to the later 3.0 diesel that was fitted to my previous car, Jaguar XJL when I was doing some chauffeuring.

A really smooth and powerful engine though.

I don't think you would get a huge return on investment in the 2.2hdi.

They have 2.0 d and 2.2 d Mondeo and the 2.2 is not that much more powerful.

The 2.0d and some more tuning is what I would go for if sticking with diesel

Though if you are not fussed about fuel consumption there used to be people that put the petrol V6 Pug engine in 306's.

Now that would be nice.

I think Peugeot Ecosse did some of those conversions but not so sure, there was one on TopGear years ago being raced in a hill climb against a Sprite I think it was.
