Desire overhead locker doors
#1
Hi all - we have a 54 Multispace Desire - which we love by the way!! - but the first day we bought it the other half broke the door off of the overhead locker followed a couple of days later by the other one - so now we have a matching pair which don't look very nice! Has anyone successfully mended theirs - I've tried gluing them back but no joy - don't really fancy buying a whole new bit as it seems that they are quite flimsy (or the other half is quite heavy handed!) so don't know if a new one would last very long.

Many thanks

Pete

They're hideously expensive to replace at dealer rates, something like £200 each. One of ours is secured with velcro.

I have had limited success with mending the hinges by using a soldering iron to melt the plastic to join the broken parts and then a "modified" paper clip to add some support to the hinge. This worked well for a while until I broke the hinge again...and then the other side too... The doors are both off now.

To get the doors off you have to lower the whole console. The hinges fit into the console by a L-shape hinge pin. All in all not a bad arrangement EXCEPT that the hinges are too frail and the doors don't really open enough to stop you from trying to push them just a bit further...DOH!

Hi Guys I have tried a couple of ways and my remedy is undo the 4 screws on left cubby hole and the 4 in the right one pull down unit past the 3 air vent box just be carefull you dont pull to hard. Undo by taking the pins out I use ARALDITE 10 mins later but it all back. DO NOT PUT THE SPRINGS BACK, they will break again the moment you open the door. Hope it helps. Tony
