[Engine] 03 1.9d pump timing
#11
The reason I asked if it was on 4 cyls at start up was to see if you had mixed the pipes. as it wouldn't run on 4 if you had. Timing should be correct if it was all pinned up properly. If you want to advance it,then turn pump anticlockwise when viewed from belt end
Starting to think you may have an injector or 2 *hosing* or other issue. Try swapping them to eliminate. Don't forget to use new copper washers

I was thinking DW8 too but read this in the first post which made me think the engine was XUD .........

Is there any way to do it/check it roughly without the kit... Or should I just stump up the fifty quid for the correct tool.

Haynes advises that with DW8 1.9d there is no adjustment only the need to align correctly the locking pins ..

Elefantman can I ask what tool are you referring to ???

Thanks for the replies.
Dw8 wjy engine I believe.

The tool is the pump timing tool.. Haynes says I need it to adjust the pump timing accurately.
Other tool I was contemplating was a diesel compression tester... Ive got several petrol ones but nothing suiabel for the lingo.
