.... On line Car Valuations ......

.... On line car price valuations .....

I'm currently using " Parkers " free on line car valuation as a tool to checking out a potential " new " second hand Berlingo and am finding that virtually all of the cars advertised on eBay Autotrader Gumtree etc etc are way over the price guide ... so ....

Why ? .....  is it because the Parkers guide is inaccurate or is it a supply / demand situation

Is there a better / more accurate free price guide out there ?

I don't object to paying a premium for low mileage etc but when you see a vehicle with a grand thrown on top of the price it gets me going !

Which is why,as you are doing Geoff, you need to do a lot of homework, check out the prices, particularly on ebay,as prices do vary across the country and be prepared to travel at the drop of a hat.Great deals can be found if you can jump right on them, follow your instincts, have the safety of buying from a dealer and always get a report on the car your thinking of getting, you know it makes sense.Dont let them talk you into something that you think may be suspect ,you know the sales patter, its a buyers market Geoff, too expensive ,walk away, your choice ,your money.Millions of cars out there,if the price is wrong,go elsewhere.
I always ignore price guides as ive found different guides give different prices, ive found the best way is to spend as much time as you can on line, information is the key to everything. Also make sure you haggle, youd be surprised how much you can get knocked off if you take some cash to wave in front of their face but if you cant get that deal dont be afraid to walk away,if they want your business there will be a deal to be had.

When I bought mine last year it was damn near impossible to find a used one (Less then 4yo) in my area, Let alone a Good used one. Ended up on google and took a massive risk on a 1yo one in Derby having only seen 6 pics of it and a chat with a dealer for 20mins.

My gamble paid off and I was happy with what I got but still to this day you see very few used ones on car lots.

Just had a look on an interdependent dealers page and hes got 2 in.

As WBOC valued my '08 VTR at only £4500 (if in perfect condition), I will be keeping it.

As another member said do your homework. Car prices do vary in the UK. I live in Glasgow and prices are higher in Edinburgh which is only 40 miles away.
The car you saw with a Grand thrown on top you already know its too expensive. A car is only worth what you want to pay for it.
