Clutch issue
#1
I have a 16 16v petrol with 125k on the clock.

The last couple of days, I have noticed that occasionally when changing up to 2nd or 3rd with a bit of power applied, the car is revving for a second or so, as though the clutch pedal was still down (when it's not), before the revs drop and power kicks into the drive wheels.

Does anyone know what causes it? Is the clutch on the way out or is something else a possible fault?

Sounds like worn clutch. Is the biting point quite high?

I wouldn't say it was any different to how it always has been.

I was suspecting that to be the likely problem. Seems from having a quick look, the replacement part isn't that expensive. £70 for a valeo one and cheaper options for under £50.

Any one any idea on the labour time / cost involved?

Labour time is @ 3.5 hours if you have a ramp & all the right tools, we tend to charge around £ 350 for the decent clutch .
Would never fit a cheap one generally.

I thought Valeo were are decent enough make or are they not?

It could be the actuating arm at the gearbox end sticking. I've not had it happen on the Berlingo but it did on a Ford I had but it does sound more like clutch wear as it's load related.
So where does this bit go then ?

Valeo, Sachs or LUK are all original equipment on Citroen & Peugeot

Sorry for late comeback.

The symptoms have got a little worse and now it's slipping under higher revs and worse uphill or when given a bit of high revs on acceleration etc.

It's booked in at a local clutch specialist place for this Thursday for a replacement.
