Timing belt question - No2
#1
Just about to order the parts for this little job ( just about recovered from the heater matrix Wink  ). Eurocarparts are doing on offer on their Dayco timing belt kit's at the moment, but noticed that the website flags up two different Dayco belts for my car (2007 1.6 petrol) -

Engine Number To     -  1 806 404
Engine Number From -  1 806 405

I cannot for the life of me find were this number is on the car. Does anybody have any idea where this number can be located ?

Thanks in advance,

Martin

Is it on your log book?

Polar, the engine number is on the log book, but it does that match these numbers that Eurocarparts are asking for.

Looks like i'll have to give them a call to see what they are on about.

They should be able to source the parts from your reg number now.

Try your local motor factors, mine often beats ECP and others on price plus no hassle or waiting / sending parts back.

I contacted Eurocarparts and they gave me the part number for the correct belt kit. It was the engine number From -  1 806 405 (hopefully it will be the correct one).

For reference, I did put my reg number in on their website but it still put up two possible kits.

Geoff, I have a Eurocarparts just down the road from where I live, so nice and easy to order parts into the shop to collect. Their Dayco kit is only £70, so pretty good price.

Thanks again for the reply's.

Dayco are the best kits on the market in my opinion.

I agree, my local factors must have good taste as they supply these too.

I'm just trying to work out exactly what tools I need to change the timing belt, tensioner and water pump on my 1.6 petrol Berlingo.

As far as I am aware, apart from the normal tools sockets and stuff, I need -

2x 10mm pins - to lock the cams
1x 6mm pin - to lock flywheel
8mm Hex key - to adjust tensioner.

The hex key I have and 10mm bolts will be easy to get for the cams. However, the 6mm pin to lock the flywheel looks like it is in a pretty inaccessible place, and usually comes as a bendy tool to reach the hole. This little tool can be bought as part of a tool kit like the one in this link. I have not been able to find any on there own. As I do not have any type of welding skills or tools to make one, does anybody know what I could use to lock the flywheel in it's place ? Or do I need to bite the bullet and just order the tool kit ?

Cheers,

Martin

Nip down to your local diy store and get a piece of round bar like this http://www.diy.com/departments/ffa-conce...082_BQ.prd
and bend it to the required shape.
Are we there yet????? Huh
