Dash message,filter at risk of clogging

In Diesel 1.6 MultiSpace-getting this dash message intermittently. Dealer says it could be the result of lots of short journeys(possible) and first I should boot it a bit for a few miles in third gear at high revs. Any comments on this advice.

What year? If it's an HDi with a particle filter then yes it probably needs a good run. 25 miles at 70-75 (not sure what the speed limits are in the UK).

Yes. Good run low gear high revs for 20 -30 mins usually sorts them.

Just give it a run up the motorway using it normally - at 70mph you will be doing 2600 rpm or there abouts anyway which is more than enough to regenerate the DPF. It should regenerate at 60mph which is about 2200rpm also. Obviously, the longer you drive it the more beneficial it will be to the DPF. I never see the point in doing 70mph in fourth gear to clear a DPF - it's just beating up the gearbox.
